The USDA
National Institute of Food and Agriculture (NIFA) is the federal partner for EDEN and appoints both programmatic and funding liaison(s) to EDEN. Representative of several NIFA programs areas are also active in the network.
Of the other agencies in USDA that have a role in emergency preparednes, one - the Animal Plant and Health Inspection Service (APHIS) - has been actively engaged with the network for several years, working most closely with the Agrosecurity Committee.
NOAA, through its College Sea Grant Program, has extension agents in 32 coastal and great lakes states. Sea Grant programs join EDEN in the same manner as Cooperative Extension programs, and NOAA Sea Grant has a national liaison.
