EDEN Annual Meetings
EDEN hosts an annual meeting every year. The meeting is hosted by a member institution and rotates yearly by region. The delegates meet annually, usually in the fall. EDEN delegates and Extension professionals attend and give presentations or posters that add to the professional development and educational programming of the meeting.
The next EDEN Annual Meeting will be October 23-26, 2012 in Tunica, Mississippi.
The 2013 EDEN Annual Meeting will head to the north central region. Madison, Wisonsin is looking forward to hosting everyone in October 2013.
In the normal rotation for the location for the EDEN annual meeting, the 2014 annual meeting should be hosted by the southern region. We should begin to be serious and consider identifying potential sites for the 2014 meeting.
There is a lot of experience available to assist with the job of hosting an annual meeting. The annual meeting committee will assist a host site in coordinating an annual meeting. The EDEN Chair-elect will have the responsibility of putting the program together with the help of the annual meeting committee. You’ll have lots of help.
Institutions from the sourthern region that are interested in hosting the meeting are asked to send a one-page proposal to the EDEN chair. States can collaborate, as was done by "the Carolinas" in 2002. The proposal should explain the member institution’s hosting capabilities as outlined in the EDEN Annual Meeting Responsibilities document on the EDEN Intranet.
If we have multiple interests, there will be a selection process.
Please discuss this with the delegates from your state, and let us know if you are interested in hosting the 2014 EDEN annual meeting in your state. We will make a selection if we have proposals submitted, so don’t wait to see if someone else steps up to the opportunity! You may miss your opportunity! If you really want to plan ahead, the 2015 meeting should be held in the western region and if you are interested in hosting that meeting, it is not too early to begin thinking about it, or even submit a proposal for consideration.
