This note is entered June 7, compiling information from e-mails sent February 9-11.

February 9:  Warmer temperatures are on the way. Snow melt will be producing flooding. No details are available. SD is redoing it's web site in CMS and is recreacting a the disaster pages.

February 10: FEMA holding mtgs here promoting flood insurance. Told us flood estimates coming - know from late summer/fall precip and snow will have river flooding here - degree unknown and will depend on how rapid melt - next week for us is deal above 32 during day and below a( night. Rapid sustained warm up will have severe flooding - here especially along James River. Our EM and FEMA want us to focus on individual and family preparedness to both shelter in place and evacuate. We have issues with roads washed out flood still not fixed.

February 11: I have attached info from our state climatologist who is putting the picture together for us relative to the potential  for flooding. There is nothing yet on floodsmart.gov – indicates maps are coming.  You can see Dr. Todey  is looking at the NWS hydrological maps and snow pack plus our  long range temps.
