2012 Extension Disaster Education Network Annual Meeting
October 23-26, 2012

This year’s events begin Tuesday with two optionial pre-meeting workshops:
ICS Overview and Tabletop Exercise. The National Incident Management System overview, which will include breakfast and a morning break, will be presented by experienced Extension educators and practitioners explaining the role of Extension educators in a variety of incident response situations or while serving in the Emergency Operation Center.
Coastal Communities Resilience. Led by the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center from Hawaii.
Both the exercise and afternoon workshop will conclude in time for the poster session and opening reception sponsored by EDEN partner National Center for Biomedical Research and Training.
The meeting kickoff will be Wednesday morning. Nationally-known speakers will offer their insights into emergency management in today’s fast paced world. Thursday’s session will feature general sessions and a capstone speaker prior to the business meeting.
On Friday, there will be an optional post-meeting workshop that includes a briefing by Jim Wilkinson, director of the Central U.S. Earthquake Consortium, about the New Madrid Seismic Zone and how the Central U.S. is preparing for an earthquake. Tours of the CUSEC Center and the Global Operations Center at FedEx are included.
