Join and Connect with the Network

The Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) has become the venue for professionals throughout Extension system to:

  • Connect with others doing disaster work in Extension
  • Attend disaster education meetings, workshops, and webinars
  • Reach out to Extension colleagues when Help is needed
  • Help Extension in neighboring states and regions when disaster strikes

Introduction to EDEN - Delegate Toolkit

The mission of the Extension Disaster Education Network (EDEN) is to reduce the impact of disasters through research-based education. It is a collaborative multi-state effort by Extension Services across the country to improve the delivery of services to citizens affected by disasters.

Joining EDEN - Delegate Toolkit

The best reason to join EDEN is because it will help you provide services to your citizens who are affected by natural and man-made disasters. EDEN puts you in touch with others doing disaster work in Extension. As a member, you have immediate access to disaster resources developed and recommended by other Extension educators.

Professional Development Resources - Delegate Toolkit

This section includes recommendation for professional development for all Extension professionals to be ready to help their communities be ready for and recover from disasters

Media and Marketing Resources - Delegate Toolkit

As grassroots organization, it falls to the delegates to spread the word of the network, and promote the combined work of the organization. This effort is led by the Marketing Committee which is developed a number of tools to help delegates take the work of EDEN beyond the network.

EDEN's Leadership - Delegate Toolkit

While EDEN is a grassroots network, it does have a national leadership made up of four elected officers, the chairs of each of the network standing committees, and representatives of the 1890 institutions, Sea Grant institutions, federal agencies including USDA, and the network's staff.

EDEN Intranet

EDEN committees and working groups work collaboratively through an Intranet hosted by the LSU AgCenter (Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service).

Submit a Response Note

Response Notes is EDEN's system for helping our Extension family "touch base" or "phone home" when disaster strikes. It's a quick-capture form you can use to let EDEN (and our USDA liaisons) know whether you've been affected, to ask for help "from the family", and to share news about what you're doing to recover or to help your constituents or neighboring states recover. There's even a place to jot down notes - especially observations of the positive impacts you won't want to forget when it comes time to report within your institution's impact system.
