The Exercise Committee is a standing EDEN committee charged with developing exercises and exercise designs which can be conducted as state, regional and national disaster exercises that engage EDEN delegates, Extension overall, and other Extension partners and audiences whenever possible. The Committee also seeks to build upon EDEN’s relationship with FEMA’s Emergency Management Institute and looks for opportunities for collaborating with other entities.
The committee meets via conference call on the first Monday of every other month and in person at EDEN annual meetings.
The Exercise Committee developed the design for and conducted four iterations of an In-Box Exercise - two regionally focused pilots and two distributed nationally – aimed at increasing the understanding of the reach of the Extension Disaster Education Network and the return on investment with regard to the network’s capacity for disseminating critical information in the case of an emergency event.
For the past three years members of the Exercise Committee have also worked closely with the Emergency Management Institute in Emmitsburg, MD to develop virtual table top exercises that the Institute uses as components of its ongoing virtual training (VTTX) program.
